First thing you did this morning? Drank herbs in bed with my husband and doggies and watched an episode of Deadwood. The power of watching a movie or show in bed on a weekend morning was recently introduced to me by one of my most productive and accomplished friends. If she hadn't shared this routine with me, I probably wouldn't have tried it out. But I have to say, it's one of the best ways to spend a cold, rainy Sunday morning. I truly love it.
What does 'wellness' mean to you? To feel well in body, mind and spirit. However you get there, it's different for everyone.
Products found in your shower/by your bath? Bathing Culture body wash, Sisters shampoo, In Fiore Calendula Oil, Max and Me Rescue Balm, In Fiore Vitale Toner and a dry brush.
Three things that can always be found in your kitchen cupboard? Coconut Butter, Matcha and sprouted, dehydrated pumpkin seeds that my husband makes. They're delicious.
Favourite kitchen utensil? My wooden spoons.
Favourite Travel destination? I adore California. All of it.
Currently reading? Future Home of the Living God by Louise Erdrich, about to dive into the new Murakami and always a business book. Right now it's The Start-Up CEO.
Currently browsing (.com)? I'm LOVING your site! And I'm always inspired by my friend Lacy's site, freeandnative.com.
Favourite breakfast food? I do mostly tea and herbs in the morning. Loaded up with The Coconut Butter, Oat Milk and adaptogens, especially the 8 AM CAP Beauty blend, they're a great way to start my day. I also like half an avocado with sauerkraut and hot sauce if I'm feeling hungry.
Three items in your make up bag? Vapour color stick, Traditional Medicinals Raspberry Leaf Tea (I drink 6 bags a day to deal with PMS, as prescribed to me by my friend and period coach, Erica Chidi Cohen. This practice has helped me in more ways than I can count.) and The Anointing Oil from CAP.
An album/mix that calms your nervous system? My husband makes the BEST playlists ever so I usually rely on those. But if I'm really needing to calm down I turn on mantras. I'm particularly into Devi Prayer by Craig Pruess and Ananda as well as Snatum Kaur 11 Recitations of the Pauris right now.
An album/mix that hypes you up? Again, my husband's playlists. Check him out on spotify at johnnvp.
Most commonly used apps on your phone? Instagram, Waze, Shopify, Slack and Audible.
Favourite form of movement/exercise? I love yoga. Jillian Turecki is a genius teacher, she's one of my favorites. I'm also thrilled when I can get in a class with my old friend, Alex Auder. She's brilliant, HILARIOUS and knows her way around the body like no one else. And I've recently started pilates which has been fantastic. I love the mind-body connection, it speaks to every part of me.
One thing you'd like to incorporate into your day/week that you're currently yet to? More time by myself with no phone, no computer, no distractions. Just time to think and fall into the abyss of blank space.
Nighttime rituals? More tea and herbs, this time spiked with the CAP Beauty 10 PM blend, Kundalini (Sat Kriya, Fists of Anger, Gyan Shakra) and Lacy's daily reprogramming exercise.
I feel most creatively fulfilled when... I've had time by myself.
I'm currently working on... So much. To be honest, a lot of self-work is happening right now. It's intense, hard and rewarding. But so worth it.
This time last year, I wish I knew... Hmmmm, I can't think of an answer to this. It's not really how my brain works, I guess.
I'm grateful for... My life, with all of its sharp edges, soft turns and chaos. As my friend Jimena recently told me, I get to make it into whatever I want. If I were into tattoos, I might just have that inked on me, for now, I'll keep it on a post-it in my wallet. The ultimate reminder, it's all ours for the taking.
