Spaces That Centre Self-Practice
PART I - THE BATHROOM
Visual language is such a huge part of our brand communication and creative practice. We use Images to inspire (us and you!), to emote and evoke meaningful change, sparking internal reflection. One of the most powerful places and visual cues we often return to, when focussed on spaces that centre self-practice, is the bathroom.
The bathroom is a place that we are most often and frequently closest with ourselves. The mirror, a poignant metaphor and physical embodiment of self-reflection. The shower and bath, both places that require us to strip back the layers of our day, exposing our naked and most vulnerable selves.
The bathroom is a place of ritual, and routine. It holds the many versions of who we are and who we want to be, day in and out. It holds our tired eyes in the morning and welcomes us back at the end of the day, without complaint or fail. It’s a space that we return to, to habitually and mindfully care for ourselves.
Questions & Prompts to consider:
List ten words you associate with your bathroom.
How much time do you spend in your bathroom each day?
Which of your self-care practices are bathroom-specific?
What poignant moments has your bathroom held you through?
If you wrote a letter to your bathroom, how would it read?
