Lauren's Autumn Beauty Routine
— BY LAUREN TREND
5:30 am - I wake up, to Rhye's The Fall as my alarm clock. I charge my phone across the other side of my bedroom so it's not near my head whilst I sleep (I truly notice such a difference in my sleep since I've been doing this!) and it forces me to get out from under the doona.
5:40 am - Since learning from Lotte, the benefits of tonuge scraping this is now the first thing I do as soon as I wake. Followed by a warm glass of water with the juice of half a lemon. This is really good for the liver and detoxifying, especially on an empty stomach. I then get dressed into my lycra and walk to yoga.
6:15 am - I meet my mat for my morning practice. If you've been following me or Self Practice for a while, you'll know just how obsessed I am with One Hot Yoga. I love waking up to their Slow Hot Flow classes.
7:25 am - I'm home from Yoga and before jumping in the shower I use my dry body brush. You can read all about the benefits of this practice here. If you don't have one yet, you absolutely need one!
7:30 am - In the shower I'm a minimal product kind of girl. I like to try out a lot of different products but I can't stand clutter (or wastage) so to keep myself focused and my shower tidy there's just cleanser, shampoo and a goats milk soap bar on hand. At the moment I am using Avène Cleansing Foam on my face, and Linea Herbavita Luminous Shampoo. I don't like to use conditioner, I have very naturally oily hair and since I have been incorporating full body avocado oil abyhanga's (oil massage) of a night time (hair included) it's really improved it's sheen.
7:50 am - Once I'm toweled off and robed up, I spritz Mario Badescu's Facial Spray with Aloe Herbs and Rosewater over my face, neck and chest. It's super refreshing. I then pop a few drops of Vitamin C serum from The Ordinary on my face. Then lather my body in Aesop's SPF Protective Body Lotion.
7:55 am - My favourite thing to do as soon as I'm fresh out of the shower and pottering around my house of a morning is light Bodha's Ground Incense and rub Doterra Balance and Ground Essential Oil on the soles of my feet. It's at this moment that I set an intention for my day and take a few deep breaths to connect to myself and the earth beneath me.
8:05 am - I then get dressed and comb back my wet hair - I love my Mason Pearson wide tooth comb. I actually have one that lives in my bathroom and another that's a permanent resident in my handbag so I'm never without. I like to let my hair dry naturally. To give my bob a little shape instead of it just being dead straight boring - I use some of Jen Atkin's Ouai Matte Pomade. It's like a balm that you rub into your finger tips and then through the ends of your hair for added texture. It also smells like gardenias which is heaven.
8:25 am - Make up time. I'm pretty boring when it comes to face make up. At the moment I'm blending La Roche-Posay's UVIDEA XL Tinted BB Cream and Hourglass Veil Foundation. The two together leave a relatively sheer coverage which I'm into. I like my freckles and when my skin is behaving (blemish free) it's all I feel I need. I then apply with a small kabuki brush a light amount of all three colours in the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. To accentuate my cheeks I pop a little Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in the shade Malice. I then fill in the wonky parts of my eyebrows (victim of severe over-plucking in the early 2000's, still suffering PTSD here *raises hand*). To do so, I use Hourglass' Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil. I pop some RMS Beauty Lip Shine on, and finish off with a coat of Lacome's Hypnose Mascara on both top and bottom lashes. I don't hold back here - a few coats is where I feel best.
8:35 am - A spritz of perfume before I head out the door. My signature is Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle (RIP Santal 33, too over worn for me now) - but at the moment in the name of circulating new energy I'm alternating between Diptique's L'ombre Dans L'eau and Debaser by D.S. & Durga.
Thanks for getting ready with me!
